The Little Giraffe
The Giraffe chair was
designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959, specifically for the restaurant at the SAS
Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Its high back and padded armrests make for a cosy
and comfortable seat. The Little Giraffe™ chair is an evolution of its iconic predecessor
– a striking rendition suitable for hospitality, meeting rooms or dining
spaces. The four-legged Little Giraffe model fuses Arne Jacobsen’s sculptural
aesthetic with impeccable upholstery. The chair is slightly higher and wider
than the original design, appealing to contemporary taste and comfort.

Arne Jacobsen |
Arne Jacobsen was born on February 11, 1902 in Copenhagen. His father, Johan Jacobsen, was a wholesale trader in safety pins and snap fasteners. His mother, Pouline Jacobsen, was trained as a bank clerk and often painted floral motifs in her spare time. The family lived in Claessensgade, Copenhagen in a typical Victorian style home. Maybe that is why Arne, as a child, painted the coloured wallpaper in his room white, as a contrast to his parents’ overly decorated taste. |
